  • Stuntman: Hollywood revives the classic stunt driving series.
  • The game features vehicles and scenes from franchises like Back to the Future, Knight Rider, and Fast & Furious.
  • Gameplay focuses on executing cinematic stunts for film productions rather than traditional racing.
  • Developed by Saber Interactive, the title is confirmed for PlayStation 5.

Saber Interactive is bringing the Stuntman series back from dormancy with Stuntman: Hollywood, a new title announced during the recent State of Play showcase. The game shifts the focus from pure racing to the precise, chaotic art of performing vehicle stunts for blockbuster movies.

Behind the Scenes of Hollywood Stunts

Stuntman: Hollywood aims to immerse players in the role of a sought-after stunt performer. Rather than just driving fast, players will execute specific director's tasks under time pressure, incorporating elements like drifting, precise driving, and controlled destruction as part of filming scenes. The game draws inspiration from the original Stuntman titles, blending arcade speed with the spectacle seen in games like Burnout and Split/Second. Success is measured by a star system, rewarding both mandatory stunt work and optional, spectacular free stunts.

The game leverages licenses from Universal Pictures and NBCUniversal, allowing players to perform stunts inspired by iconic films and TV series. This includes vehicles and scenarios from franchises such as Fast & Furious, Back to the Future, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, and Death Race. Players will get behind the wheel of recognizable vehicles, including the DeLorean and KITT, as well as various other cars, motorcycles, and even a school bus.

Each film production is broken down into episodes, acting as distinct levels with unique vehicles, challenges, and objectives. These can range from maintaining a tight driving line to evading gunfire or driving on two wheels, all within a limited number of takes dictated by the director. Beyond the main film campaigns, the game will include additional modes like B-roll episodes and stunt arenas.

Platform and Development

Stuntman: Hollywood is set to launch on the PlayStation 5. While a specific release date has not yet been announced, the game is described as coming "very soon." The development is being handled by Saber Interactive, a studio known for its work on physics-based action titles like World War Z and SnowRunner. The franchise, which last saw a release with Stuntman: Ignition in 2007, is being revived with a focus on recreating the excitement and danger of movie stunts.
