The popular cooperative puzzle platformer Pico Park: Classic Edition is set to be removed from Steam, with developer Tecopark citing policy limitations that prevent it from being re-monetized after an accidental change last year.
Accidental Free-to-Play Transition
Pico Park, originally released in 2016, became permanently free on Steam in October 2025 following an update. The developers, Tecopark, had intended to offer the game for free temporarily before returning it to a paid status. However, they discovered that Steam's platform rules restrict how many times developers can offer a game for free and then charge for it again, making a return to a paid model impossible for the Classic Edition.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the original Pico Park game. A September 2026 update had previously added online multiplayer for up to 10 players, updated graphics, and controller support, seemingly in an effort to align the Classic Edition with newer titles in the Pico Park series.
"We are grateful to the players who have enjoyed the free version since it was announced last October," Tecopark stated. "This decision was made after careful consideration for the future of the Pico Park series."
Players who have already downloaded Pico Park: Classic Edition will be able to continue playing it. The delisting means that only the paid versions of Pico Park and Pico Park 2 will remain available on the Steam storefront.
Tecopark has indicated that the Pico Park series will continue, with further announcements expected regarding future developments.
